The Bookend Society: McCallie Kennedy Library's Book Club

The McCallie Kennedy Library was pleased to announce the formation of a book club to add to Darlington’s collection of clubs and activities this year during the clubs assembly on September 9. 

The club’s inception can be attributed to a student clamoring in the past school year, "Can we just have a time where we read really good books and just talk about them?” With the help of junior prefect Abraham Johnson and a few others that have made the library their daily haunt, The Bookend Society came into being. 

A group of 17 students met on September 16 to decide upon their first literary venture, That's Not a Feeling by Dan Josefson. There was a plethora of pizza; discussion of books read in the past; and a general buzz of excitement for an opportunity to sit among book lovers and feel happy for the excuse to read some more. This is why I wanted to sponsor the club in the first place: just to sit and feel the exact same energy I feel rush over me whenever I start the possibility of a really great story. 

The Bookend Society will continue to meet the second and fourth Monday of every month, each month having a different book assigned to it. Anyone interested in participating will always be welcome. We have only one stipulation: READ!
