This academic year, new computer systems were installed in the library, classrooms, the Lower School, and other computer labs across campus, bringing the total number of computers on campus to nearly 300. Almost every building, including all four dormitories, has T1 Internet access. All three schools, Lower, Middle, and Upper, are now connected with fiber-optic cables and T1 lines. E-mail and Internet access is now available to all Middle School and Upper School students.
“Last year we had approximately 600 students with Internet and e-mail access. We are on the forefront of technology usage and continue to be,” said Rick Buice, technology coordinator. “We are not slowing down.”
Next year, parents and students will be able to access student grades and comments on the web. Using software written by Stefan Eady, director of publications and webmaster, and Buice, faculty will submit grades and comments via the Internet. These will be accessible with passwords to students and parents through Darlington’s web site.
