“T” stands for turkeys, table manners … and Thanksgiving, of course!

Patricia Ayer’s Superstars put the letter “T” to good use in November with a variety of seasonal projects. The kindergartners prepared for Thanksgiving by studying turkeys in science. They made turkeys gobble by vibrating a string to make a sound similar to a turkey. They also made a turkey book with lots of turkey facts and creative covers.
The Superstars also brushed up on their table manners in preparation for a grand Thanksgiving Day meal. Tables of four were covered with tablecloths and cloth napkins, golden plates and cups. The children served each other milk from a pitcher and practiced saying “please” and “thank you.” Each table was decorated with a cornucopia filled with fall leaves and flowers.
Not to be overshadowed by Thanksgiving, the centennial birthday of the teddy bear on Nov. 16 gave kindergartners a great excuse for a party, complete with a Teddy Bear Parade and birthday cake.
