Swing into Spring

Some things are universal in nature, like many of the rituals of spring—an event anticipated with such zeal that poets, for centuries, have penned verses in its honor. Common and unique signs of spring abound at Darlington. The season’s sights and sounds can be like poetry —a beauty as glorious as a priceless painting.
Students persuade instructors to have lessons outside. The Chapel lawn serves as a backdrop for frolickers and studious sun worshippers. Girls chat about prom dresses. Upper School awaits The Mudslinger, the student newspaper’s satirical issue. The campus is busy planning annual events: society inductions, honors day, Easter egg hunts, senior picnic, graduation, yearbook signings, spring concerts and plays, the Fine Arts Festival, Tigerfest, and Reunion Weekend.
Whether in the halls of Porter or around Silver Lake, students, swans, squirrels, birds—creatures across the campus are “twitterpatted”—love struck. Fans sneeze in the pollen-filled air as they cheer for their favorite spring teams. Seniors enjoy privileges. Ah, springtime at Darlington —the school year culminates with a glorious ending and new beginnings.
