Sumner earns national physics award

Mimi Sumner, junior, has been named an National Science Merit Award winner in physics. The United States Achievement Academy selects winners upon the recommendation of teachers, coaches, counselors, and other qualified sponsors. Nominated by teacher Donald Sweeney, Sumner will appear in the academy's offical yearbook, which is published nationally.

The criteria for selection are a student's academic performance, interest, and aptitude; leadership qualities; responsibility, enthusiasm, motivation to learn and improve, citizenship, attitude, cooperative spirit, and dependability.
