By Stefan Eady - Faculty
Summer Session offers rising ninth- through twelfth-graders the opportunity to get ahead, reinforce areas that are weak, or explore new subjects.
For those who wish to skip a level in math or history, Geometry, Ancient World History, Modern World History, and American History are appropriate selections.
For those who desire to study for enrichment’s sake, courses are available in the arts, including two two-week, intensive, interactive courses, Theater Workshop (directed by drama instructor Marisa Ortega) and Summer Art Institute (led by art instructor Rob Davis), and two afternoon courses, Art Workshop and Creative Writing. Among physical education offerings is Adventure Darlington, which teaches skills in mountain biking, rock climbing, kayaking, rafting, and the ropes course.
For students who need to brush up on skills, there are study skills courses and review courses in English, math, and SAT. Full courses are offered in Biology, Chemistry 1, English 1-3, Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and English as a Second Language.
Students may earn up to one and a half credits in the Summer Session, which runs from June 18 to July 29. Students may attend for two, four, or six weeks.
For more information, contact Summer Session Principal Sam Moss (236-0438 or smoss@darlington.rome.ga.us), Academic Dean Sally Rudert (236-0444 or srudert@darlington.rome.ga.us), or the admission office (235-6051 or admission@darlington.rome.ga.us). The Summer Session handbook is available on the Darlington web site.
