Seventh-graders Anna Krueger and Michael Schecter will be competing at the District Level competition at Berry College after winning the Zone Level oratorical competition on April 7. If they win at the District Level, they will continue on to State Level, which awards $1,500 to the winner. The speech topic is, “If I could change the world.”
Kruger and Schecter were selected to compete after earning first place in the Breakfast Optimist Club Oratorical Competition on Feb. 21, when they gave four to five minute speeches on how they would change the world. “They are judged on poise, content of speech, delivery and presentation, and overall effectiveness,” said Nancy Ivester, seventh grade English instructor.
