In an effort to better prepare middle schoolers for their first trimester exams, Middle School Counselor Nicole Shaub and Learning Skills Consultant Libbie Zimmer ran a series of Exam Preparation Workshops the week before testing.
“Each grade met with us in the Briley Lecture Room for one class period, and we talked about general exam study tips,” said Shaub. “The students were divided into 10 groups during each session, and each of these groups presented one study tip in a skit or song. There were several raps, some great skits and a couple of particularly creative songs.”
Tips included getting organized, getting plenty of sleep, eliminating disturbances and distractions, eating right, exercising, breaking up study time, making a plan, figuring out the ways you learn best, using your teachers as resources and studying the most difficult subjects first.
According to Shaub, she and Zimmer plan to run Middle School exam workshops before each of the trimester exam weeks. For more information, contact Shaub at 706-802-4391.
