Energy was in the air as 192 pairs of feet bounced to the beat for their hearts. On March 22, nearly 200 Lower School students participated in Jump Rope for Heart for the ninth consecutive year. The annual event benefits the American Heart Association, a leader in America’s fight against heart disease and stroke. This year, participants raised an all-time high of $8,710. Overall, Darlington students have raised more than $40,000 in the past nine years for the American Heart Association through this program.
Students, grouped into teams of six, took turns jumping rope for two and a half hours in the Lower School gymnasium. While waiting their turn to jump, the students enjoyed several activities including watching a sports blooper video, coloring with crayons, and dancing on the dance floor.
Event coordinator and physical education instructor Doug Moon was very pleased with this year’s event. “The children exercised, had lots of fun, and raised a large amount of money for a good charity,” said Moon.
