Two Middle School and two Upper School students participated in the 7th District Concert and Middle School Honor bands held in Cartersville, Ga. Selection into these bands was based on auditions held in December. Sixth-grader Turner Edwards and eighth-grader Clarke Coleman McGehee were in the Middle School Honor Band and ninth-graders Beau Griffith and Dennis Kim were in the Concert Honor Band. Following rehearsals on Thursday night, all day Friday, Friday night, and Saturday morning, they played a concert on Saturday afternoon at Cartersville High School.
Edwards also was selected to go the final audition for All-State Middle School Band, scheduled in February in Warner Robins, Ga. Turner is the only sixth grader in the 7th District to have achieved this honor. If he passes this audition, he will perform with the All - State Middle School Band in Savannah the first weekend in May at the Savannah Civic Center.
