One way to fend off first-day jitters and build camaraderie among peers is through Darlington Directions ––a competition, traditionally between the sophomore, junior, and senior classes, of wacky and unusual events. This year changes occurred, including freshman participation and rivalry between the different houses and the senior class. As another Darlington tradition, freshmen have an additional opportunity to become better acquainted with each other during the annual Freshman Retreat, in Mentone, Ala. for a weekend at the beginning of school. This year the activity was moved so that the freshmen could join the Darlington Direction activities. The retreat always proves to be a prime opportunity to instill class spirit, unity and pride, as well as plan activities for the coming year.
