Students Benefit from Technology in the Classroom

Technology is flourishing at the Middle School. Ken Wempe, Nancy Ivester, Kevin Ivester, Tommy Atha, and several other teachers are using Gateway Destination Digital Media computers with large format monitors (27”), speakers, and DVD drives in their classrooms.
By placing student sentences and paragraphs on the large screen, eighth-grade English teacher Wempe is teaching his students how to write and rewrite.
“What’s great about the Destination is that you can use it to show examples of common errors very quickly, and students can clearly see how to fix them,” Wempe said.
Nancy Ivester is using the Destination as a virtual chalkboard to teach grammar and writing. Kevin Ivester uses it to teach computer skills, and Atha uses it in his history class.
