Student logs 144,000 pages in reading program

Darlington fifth-grader Brandon Cox has a little bit of spare time between homework, baseball, band, track meets, and helping with his younger sister and younger brother. He likes to spend that time reading.
Between the middle of August and the first of May, Cox read 144,000 pages - enough to accumulate over 800 Accelerated Reading points and set a new record for the Lower School.
"Brandon has a wealth of stories in his mind now, enriching his vocabulary and general knowledge," said Ann Glass, Lower School librarian. "He has read himself through all kinds of characters, emotions and periods of history. Reading well takes practice, and Brandon is now an expert!"
Hopefully, this achievement will make Cox's future reading efforts (school work, newspapers, magazines and even more books!) a easier and much more fun. Cox is the son of Mandi and B.J. Cox of Rome.
