Student-athletes recognized at Winter Sports Assembly

Outstanding athletes in varsity basketball, swimming and diving, and wrestling were recognized at the Winter Sports Assembly on Monday, March 3, in Morris Chapel. 

In basketball:

Seniors Hector Picon and Sarah Manning of Rome received the Athletic Booster Club Scholar-Athlete Awards.

Junior Matthew Heiken of Rome was named Most Improved.

Senior Jeremiah McClure of Rome received the Leading Rebounder Award, and sophomore Patrick Kearns of Adairsville, Ga., received the JV Rebounder Award.

Junior Seth Little of Rockmart, Ga., was named Offensive Player of the Year.

Junior Rachel Simon of Rome was named Most Valuable Defensive Player.

Sophomore Keara Evans of Rome received The Darah Huffman Award.

Seniors Maggie Beth Atha and Sarah Manning of Rome received Captain's Awards.

In swimming and diving:

Junior Hope Roberson and senior Winston Herring, both of Rome, received the Athletic Booster Club Scholar-Athlete Awards.

Senior Emily Thurmond of Rome and sophomore Will Robertson of Kennesaw, Ga., received Captain's Awards.

In wrestling:

Senior Rostam Zafari of Cartersville, Ga., received the Athletic Booster Club Scholar-Athlete Award and the Most Improved Wrestler Award.

Junior Hayden Cook of Aragon, Ga., received the Brick Wall Award for fewest take downs allowed.

Senior Jule Peek of Cedartown, Ga., received the Captain's Award.
