Student-athletes recognized at Winter Sports Assembly

Outstanding athletes in varsity basketball, cheerleading, diving, swimming and wrestling were recognized at the Winter Sports Assembly on Monday, March 5 in Morris Chapel.

In basketball: 

Senior Cam Collins of Calhoun, Ga., and junior Bailey Brock of Rome received Scholar-Athlete Awards. Collins was also named Team MVP.

Senior Shan Paracka and sophomore Sarah Manning, both of Rome, were named Most Improved.

Sophomore Maggie Beth Atha of Rome received "The Stopper" Award for being the Most Valuable Defensive Player. 

Junior Terar Stewart of Summerville, Ga., and senior Lindsay Evans of Rome received Captain's Awards. 

In cheerleading:

Senior Bonnie Rowland of Cartersville, Ga., received the Scholar-Athlete Award.

Seniors Rebecca Schenk of Hickory, N.C., and Rachel Christopher of Jonesboro, Ga., received Captain's Awards.

In swimming and diving:

Senior Anna Grace Rutledge and junior Ryan Haley, both of Rome, received Scholar-Athlete Awards.

Senior Melissa Picon and junior Dillon Weeks, both of Rome, received Captain's Awards.

Sophomore Emily Thurmond and junior Dillon Weeks, both of Rome, were named MVPs.

Juniors Lauren Chin of Montego Bay, Jamaica, and Alex Cox of Rome were named Most Improved.

In wrestling:

Junior Collin Sheffield of Rome received the Scholar-Athlete Award. 

Sophomore Jordan Beck of Rome received the Break-Out Athlete Award.

Senior Spencer Jones of Adairsville received the State Champion Award.
 
Sophomore Jule Peek of Cedartown, Ga., received the Coaches' Award.
