The Lower School welcomed The Strength Team to campus Thursday, Sept. 13. Made up of pro-athletes, this Missouri-based motivational speaking group conveys the message that choices impact each person’s path in life.
“Many students today battle with situations that affect their ability to keep focus on their goals and dreams, and we are here to let them know that dreams can come true,” said Mike Hagen, president of The Strength Team. “Every young person has a seed of potential in his or her life, but it is up to each student, individually, to make the choices in order to achieve success. Success is earned!”
The Strength Team travels nationally and internationally, speaking to youth of all ages. They have even appeared on the television show “Walker Texas Ranger.” At the Lower School assembly, team members accomplished astonishing feats of strength such as breaking a wooden baseball bat over a leg, ripping a phone book and a deck of cards in half, crushing a full soft drink can so that it exploded, and bending and twisting a steel rod.
“The Strength Team has made over 1,000 school appearances over the past four years with 1,000 already schedule for next year alone,” said fitness instructor Mitch Jordan, who coordinated the appearance. “The Strength Team has a powerful and effective message that every young person should experience. Their emphasis on goal setting, working hard, and believing in yourself and your dreams are characteristics that we strive to instill in our Darlington students at an early age.”
The Strength Team will be in Rome for the rest of the week, making appearances at MB’s Theater Sept. 12-13 and Shorter College Sept. 14-16. Admission is free. For more information, call 706-936-3214.
