Darlington's website offers a variety of ways for parents to stay connected to day-to-day life at the school. Here is a quick rundown of the areas with which you will want to become familiar:
Announcements: This area of the website features announcements and reminders about upcoming events, deadlines, and other things you will want to know. Bookmark this page and get into the habit of checking it daily so that you don't miss important information. You can sort the announcements by ELA-8 and Upper School using the drop-down menu at the top of the page so that you only see announcements that are relevant to your child's division. New announcements show up first. Click here to check it out!
Blogs: The Darlington blog is an area of the website that has grown exponentially in recent years. Popular among our parents, this page features blogs written by faculty and staff members about topics ranging from trends in education, to studying tips, to important upcoming events on campus. Click here to read the Darlington blog and check it out regularly for new content!
Calendar: The most up-to-date information on school events can always be found using the online calendar. On this page, you can also access a list of major events for the entire 2013-14 school year, including things like school holidays, testing dates and Commencement. You can also view the calendar by day or by month to plan ahead. Click here to access the school calendar exclusively online!
Galleries: The galleries are easily the most popular area of Darlington's website. The coolest thing about them is that any member of the Darlington Community with a login is able to post photo galleries -- this includes faculty, staff, students, parents and alumni! So be sure and take your camera with you when you come to campus to watch your child compete or perform so that you can share those photos with the entire school community via the galleries page. Galleries appear by date, with the most recent first. You can also sort the galleries by division and look back at archived galleries from previous school years using the drop-down menu at the top of the page. Click here to check out our galleries!
News: The news page is another very popular area of Darlington's website. Go here to read articles about our students, faculty and upcoming events. We also try to link content that has appeared in the local newspaper, the Rome News-Tribune, so that our school community can easily find it. As with the galleries, you can sort the news by division and look back at archived content using the drop-down link at the top of the page. If you have a Darlington-related news tip, be sure and share it with me. Click here to read the news!
Student Page: When you log onto the Darlington website, you will be directed to the Today page. On the left side of this page, you will be see an area for Parents where you will be able to access your student's personal web page. Features of the student page include the gradebook, comments, assignments, attendance and more. This will be an important page for you to keep tabs on throughout the year!
As we prepare for a great year here at Darlington, I hope this information will be helpful in engaging you with all that is happening here in our special little school community. If you have any questions about how to access these areas of the school website, please feel free to contact me. Welcome to Darlington!
