State Notes Music Abilities

The following students have received high recognition for their musical abilities: eighth graders Payton Bradford, percussionist, and Kim King, flute, have been selected to the 2001 Seventh District Middle School Honor Band. Seventh graders Elizabeth Alber, flute, Blakeney Spong, clarinet, and Clark Coleman McGehee, French horn, and sixth grader Ben Pate, trombone, have been selected as alternates.
Philip Floyd, alto sax, junior, has been selected for the Seventh District Symphonic Honor Band and was selected as first chair alto sax in the 2001 Georgia All State Jazz Band.
Senior Toby Layson, tubist, and junior Andy Babcock, baritone saxophonist, were selected as alternates for the Seventh District Symphonic Honor Band.
Both the Middle School and Symphonic Honor Bands will perform at Cartersville High School on Saturday, Jan. 6 and the All State Jazz Band will perform in Savannah, Ga. on Saturday, Jan. 27.
