Lower School faculty took classes this summer to strengthen their effectiveness in the classroom. Mark Tayloe attended an introduction to Spanish class. Tayloe also attended a variety of Microsoft software classes with Patricia Ayer, Barbara Barfield, Terri Booker, Perree Collier, Diane Lumpkin, Carol Mitchell, and Beth Starnes. Lola Bradshaw, Gayle Monk, Collier, and Starnes joined an interactive workshop that offered hands-on water education activities, methods, and materials.

"It is impressive to me that we have a faculty who enthusiastically seek ways to become better teachers," Tayloe said."The number of classes that our teachers speaks volumes about their love for what they do."

If the number of classes is a measure of passion, then Becky Kellerman is one passionate teacher. This summer she attended four classes: Geology in the Classroom, Nourishment for the Noggin'; Classroom Management, and Designing Rubrics to Assess Student Writing.
