Special Olympics
It may be normal to be able to laugh and sing,
And swing and climb onto everything.
It may be normal to touch and feel,
And open your eyes to see what is real.
But what if you can’t swing or sing?
Does that make you a normal human being?
We take the word “normal” for granted.
Everyone’s idea of normal is a little slanted.
Normal for me is being able to think,
Being able to make decisions in a snap or a wink.
Not everyone is normal, yes this I believe,
But not being normal doesn’t mean you can’t achieve.
Today I learned that being different is beautiful;
Just because you can’t hear doesn’t make you unusual.
It just means you see things from a different perspective.
You find color and motion very effective.
Just because you cant walk doesn’t make you immobile;
You move around on your throne, and to me that’s quit noble.
