Special Events & Special Guests at the Lower School

The Scholastic Book Fair was a big success for our first attempt. We thank all of our parents, students and teachers for their support. 

Special thanks to Ann Glass and Tiger PRIDE moms for their diligence in organizing this event for our school and families. Sally Scarbrough and Stacy Albers were co-chairs and did an exceptional job for organizing and setting up the daily schedules. Our volunteers were terrific and we thank them for their time:  Kathleen Hughes, Somer Kizziah, Sandy Lester, Kim Moseley, Kim Price, Rana Pyle, Tracy Shropshire, Lauren Sklar, Paige Swiger, Claudia Tomaselli, Sheila Watkins, Allison Watters and Laura Zobel.

The faculty and staff celebrated the holidays with our annual Christmas breakfast. We would like to thank the following parents for covering classes so the teachers could attend worry-free: Kim Moseley, Stacy Albers, Stephanie Herring, Nancy  Kimball, Julie Allen, Alethea Roach, Kim Price, Chris Morgan, Amy Monroe, Kelly McClain and Mark Brewster. Thanks to Kathleen Hughes and Stephen Moseley for taking care of the morning drop-offs so Richard Hightower and Jim Daniels could attend.

Holly Shadday did a terrific job again in organizing the Angel Tree Project that helps deserving families in our community have a Merry Christmas with their children. The gifts will be delivered on Monday, Dec. 12, to Zegie Hilliard, guidance counselor at McHenry Primary School. She will facilitate the distribution of the gifts to their families. As always, we thank you for your generosity and support for this worthwhile program.

We cordially invite all of our parents to our annual Christmas performance that will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 14, at 2 p.m. in the gym. This year, the performance will include pre-kindergarten through fourth-grade students. The strings and band students will also be performing. We look forward to seeing you!

On Thursday, Dec. 15, at 10 a.m., Carroll College, one of the NAIA Championship teams, will visit the Lower School and participate in an assembly with our students. The assembly will focus on Character Education values. Our guests will also visit the classroom to read stories to the students. Carroll College is located in Helena, Mont. This team will be playing against St. Xavier College from Chicago, Ill., on Saturday afternoon at Barron Stadium. 

Friday, Dec. 16, the last day before our holiday break, the students will see a play titled “Some Stinky, Some Starchy, and One Holy.” Written by Janice Cox, it will be performed by our kindergarten and pre-first students. After the play, a variety of activities have been planned around the theme of Feliz Navidad. The day will end with an ice cream sundae party in Tiger Hall before the students are dismissed at 11:45 a.m.
