Sparks, Brown participate in All-State Chorus

Eighth-grader Maggie Sparks and sophomore Garrett Brown were selected to attend the 2007 Georgia Music Educator’s Association All-State Chorus Feb. 22-24 in Savannah, Ga.
“This annual state event features two middle school choirs and three high school choirs, each made up of approximately 250 students,” said Kim Tunnell, Middle School chorus teacher. “Students who make it to All-State come together and rehearse for three days and perform a final concert at the end of the event.”
Sparks sang in the Middle School Treble All-State Chorus, an all-female group directed by Judith Willoughby from Oklahoma City University. Their selections included Henderson’s “Come Ye Makers of Song,” Vivaldi’s “Domine Deus, Agnus Dei,” Gifford’s “On Goes The River,” “Winter” from “Four Grassi Lake Seasons” by Bell, Brunner’s “Yo Le Canto Todo el Diaz,” Berg’s “This Little Light Of Mine,” and Hogan’s “Music Down In My Soul.”
Brown participated in the All-State Men’s Chorus, directed by Lauren Ringwall of Piedmont College. Their selections included Hawley’s “What A Piece Of Work Is Man,” Lauridsen’s “Ave Dulcissma Maria,” David N. Childs’ “Weep No More,” Gawthrop’s “Lifted in Song,” DePaur’s “Marry A Woman Uglier Than You,” and Dawson’s “Soon Ah Will Be Done.”
Sparks is the daughter of Billy and Jeannie Sparks of Rome, Ga. Brown is the son of Vann and Valerie Brown of Cloudland, Ga.
