Soccer Academy Prepares for U17 National Championship

Sunday, July 17, will be a huge day for soccer. Not only will our U.S. Women's National Team be playing in the World Cup final against Japan, but it is the day our U17 Boys return to campus to start their quest for a National Championship!
 
Our U17 Boys are going into the National Championship viewed as an "underdog" team, but our competition does not understand the value of our training and residential environment at Darlington. We are an Academy with only 60-70 boys and we will be playing clubs with over 4,000 players. We are very proud of what our players have been able to accomplish in the Soccer Academy's seven short years of existence. To date, we have sent over 65 players on to play college soccer (10 NCAA Div. I in the Class of 2011 alone) and two of our former Academy players are playing professional soccer. Now, 19 young men will have the opportunity to compete and potentially bring home the first ever National Championship title in the school's 106-year history. 

If you are around campus July 17-27 and you see some of the Soccer Academy boys, please wish them well. These young men are on a quest to put a "star" on the Darlington School Soccer Academy crest! Early morning July 28, the coaches and 19 players will board a plane bound for Boise, Idaho.
