Sixth-graders perform with honor chorus

Sixth-graders Caroline Baker, Alexandra Dodd, and Stephanie Shecter attended the Georgia Music Educator’s Association sponsored annual Sixth-Grade Honor Chorus at the Clayton County Performing Arts Center, Jonesboro, Ga., Jan. 31 and Feb. 1. Anna Stephenson, who was also selected to participate in the competition, was unable to attend due to illness.
Over 500 students from around the state participated in the rehearsals and concert. They were chosen through auditions held in the fall. “These girls practiced for several weeks with me to learn the music and worked extremely hard at home before going to the honor chorus,” Kim Tunnell, Middle School music instructor, said. “The concert was an incredible success and the students came home with a wonderful musical experience.”
