Seventh-grader to speak at REI Perimeter

Seventh-grader Chandler Johnson will give a special presentation titled "Experience Your Nation’s Greatest Treasures: A Special Presentation with Chandler Johnson" Friday, May 15, at 6 p.m. at the REI Perimeter outdoor recreation store in Atlanta.
Johnson has made it her goal to visit every unit in the National Park System by the time she turns 14. So far, she's got a great head start. With the help of her parents, she's driven more than 100,000 miles to 48 states and racked up 270 national park visits in the process.
"I enjoy going to the parks because I learn about the historical, cultural and environmental relevance they each have,” Johnson said. "Yellowstone is my favorite. It’s so big!”
Johnson discovered the Junior Ranger programs offered by the National Park Service when she was 6 years old, and has been active in the program ever since. She has been recognized for her achievement in the Junior Ranger program with an official ranger hat - making her the only junior ranger to have one.
During her presentation at REI Perimeter, Johnson will discuss her experience and motivation for visiting the parks. She will also present a slideshow of her favorite photos taken along her journey.
