Seventh grade students Alexandra Dodd and Jett Puckett went on from their first place win in the Optimist Club’s International Oratorical Contest, to win Zone level competition on March 21 at the Rome City Board of Education.
Dodd and Puckett initially wrote essays in English classes in Darlington Middle School and then developed them into speeches after they entered the International Oratorical Contest. They won the contest held in mid-February, which entitled them to go on to Zone level competition.
