Senior earns Football Hall of Fame Scholarship

Senior Dylan Baker recently received the 2008 Football Hall of Fame George Morris Scholarship Award valued at $1,000. As a winner, he has been named one of the Top-40 scholar-athletes for football in the state of Georgia for 2008. Baker was honored, along with several top college scholar-athletes, during the Chick-fil-a Bowl festivities at the Texaco Scholarship Luncheon and “Chalk Talk” presented by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Dec. 30.
A four-year letterman in varsity football and member of the varsity track and field team, Baker has received numerous athletic awards given by the Darlington. Most recently, he received the Scholar-Athlete Award for football and was named to the Rome News-Tribune All-Area Football Team. He has also been nominated to receive the John Pinson Outstanding Student-Athlete Award, given by the Rome-Floyd Sports Hall of Fame.
Academically, Baker is an "A" student and consistently appears on the Headmaster's List. A member of National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society, he has also received both the Darlington Parents' Association Student Award and the Centre College Fellow Award. Baker is an AP Scholar with Distinction and will soon be inducted into the Darlington Chapter of the Cum Laude Society. He is the son of Patty and Phil Baker of Rome.
