Second-grader earns top honors in photo contest

Second-grader Zane Anderson was recently named a winner in the Ranger Rick Photo Contest, sponsored quarterly by the National Wildlife Federation. His photograph will appear in Ranger Rick magazine and on the Web site.
“I was excited [when I found out I had won the contest] and really excited I was going to be on a magazine,” said Anderson.
Anderson’s photo was taken of one of the swans at the Upper School campus in April. He took a series and selected his favorite to enter in the contest.
“Zane used my camera and walked the lake’s bank, following the swans until he saw the right shot,” said his mother, RuthAnne Anderson. “He uses these photos to this day as personal thank-you notes for family members and teachers. All of the Lower School teachers told me how much they loved his photo cards.”
The Ranger Rick Photo Contest is open to legal residents of the United States who are 13 years of age or younger. Winning contestants also receive a Certificate of Recognition and five copies of the magazine featuring their entries.
