Search for next Darlington president begins

The Search Committee appointed by Darlington’s Board of Trustees has announced the hiring of Educators Collaborative and past Darlington president Jim McCallie to assist the School’s search for a new president. McCallie and his partners, Peter Gunness and Deirdre Ling will work with Allen Strand ’48, who will serve pro bono as part of the Educators Collaborative search team.
“The Search Committee is excited about the Educators Collaborative approach to assisting us in identifying the nation’s top candidates to serve as our interim and permanent president,” John Irby, chair of the Presidential Search Committee, said. “We are fortunate to have Jim McCallie with his knowledge and love of Darlington.”
As part of the effort to identify the best candidates for the permanent president position, Educators Collaborative will interview and seek input from much of the Darlington constituency and will conduct 100 or more confidential interviews and group meetings at the School with trustees, parents, past parents, faculty, students, and alumni on March 16 and 17. From these interviews, McCallie will produce an Information for Candidates Report that will prioritize Darlington's strengths and challenges and the qualities/qualifications sought in a new president. McCallie emphasizes how important it is for presidential candidates to know what Darlington's constituencies think about their School and what they want to see in future leadership.
“We have begun the search of candidates for an interim president position and identifying and picking a candidate for that position is our top priority in the near term,” Irby said. The committee hopes to have an interim president in place by this summer.
