Science Class Hits the Trails

Seventh-graders created field guides of the Darlington School campus in February as part of their science studies on the classification of living things.
Leaving no stone unturned, these young scientists have scanned the trails behind the Middle School in search of organisms. Students were required to take photographs of eight to ten organisms they discovered and document each species according to location, characteristics, and behaviors.
“This project allowed the students to get some hands-on experience with a vast array of organisms,” said Middle School science instructor Todd Jones. “It also enabled them to experience different facets of learning while being outdoors and having fun.”
