School offers summer SAT opportunities

Darlington’s Summer Session provides an opportunity for rising juniors and seniors to improve their SAT scores, thus enhancing their options for college.
Students have two options: (1) a two-week course consisting of four hours daily of concentrated study and test-taking strategies, equally divided between verbal and math sections; or (2) a four-week course consisting of two hours daily of similar rigorous work. Students who have taken such courses in the past have seen their scores increase 50-100 points, with some making even greater improvements.
Three experienced professionals will be working with the SAT program. The two-week course runs daily July 2 – July 13, 8 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., and will be taught by Learning Center Director Tom Sorci, who also serves as a consultant to the Educational Testing Service (ETS), which creates the SAT’s. The four-week course runs daily from June 18 – July 13, 1:30 – 3:30 p.m., and will be taught by math instructor Mark Gibbons and English instructor and former Berry College professor John Cox.
Day students can take either the two-week or four-week SAT review for $500. Resident students can take the two-week course for $1600. The four-week course for resident student is included in the regular four or six-week resident tuition. To register, contact the admission office.
