School names new girls’ basketball coach

Darlington School is pleased to announce that Josh Hembree has been named head coach of the varsity Lady Tigers basketball team for 2007-08. He will also teach math and serve as an adviser at the Upper School.
Hembree holds a bachelor’s degree in math and a master’s in secondary education from Berry College, where he played varsity basketball as an undergraduate. He has five years of experience as an assistant coach at Berry College and Model High School, and has been an instructor at numerous basketball camps in Georgia and Alabama.
“Coach Hembree is going to bring great enthusiasm to our women’s basketball program,” said Athletic Director Jerry Sharp. “He really cares about his players, and I think that’s what’s most important. I strongly believe he will take our program to the next level, and we are all thrilled that he has decided to come on board at Darlington.”
Hembree has taught math at Berry College Middle School and Model High School, and is certified to teach AP courses. He is currently working on an Ed.D. in Leadership from Walden University.
