School hosts Water Polo Clinic and Tournament

Darlington will host a Water Polo Clinic and Tournament Sunday, Oct. 3, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., in A.J. Huffman ’67 Memorial Athletic Center. The clinic will feature Tom Tracy, president of American Water Polo, and the Emory University women’s water polo team.
“The clinic itself is a great opportunity for beginners to develop basic skills, and for experienced players to perfect their current skills,” said Rob Meaney, Darlington swim coach.
Athletes will have the opportunity to play several games as well as to attend various educational sessions that will focus on the rules and basics of water polo. These sessions are open to the community and local high school, middle school and elementary school students.
Meaney encourages anyone interested to drop by.
“Swimming is a great sport that teaches you time management and discipline. Plus it’s a good way to stay healthy and have fun making friends at a new school,” he said. “The Emory players will be able to illustrate how the game is played and what college teams and coaches are looking for in a player.”
