Schlenk leaves after 22-year service

A popular member of the Darlington community, Director of Admission Lisa Schlenk, who began her stint at the School Sept. 1, 1979, will retire from Darlington June 29. Schlenk’s extended relationship with the School has included that of a Darlington parent, (Scott Schlenk ’80 and Kristin Schlenk Danganan ’83), Lower School faculty member, and admission representative in various capacities.
“It has been a pleasure to work with Lisa when she was a Darlington parent and on professionally. She’s been a great colleague and friend,” Headmaster David Rhodes said. “Lisa has refined our admission process creating a system that is producing strong results. It’s been especially beneficial to our residential program.”
Schlenk’s plans show that she may not have difficulties adjusting to the loss of a 22-year routine. “It has been hard to think I will not be working every day as I have loved the years and the School. We are going to the beach, to John Thorsen’s wedding, (Thorsen is the former director of boarding admission), and on to Montreal,” Schlenk shared. “When we return, it will be cleaning and playing golf, but I am concerned that I will keep thinking of Darlington and still want to be around. Time will tell.”
