Schecter named Student of the Month for April

Outstanding academic achievement has won senior Michael Schecter the honor of being named Noon Optimist Student of the Month for April.
Schecter has a GPA of 96.59 with 10 Honors and nine AP credits. While at Darlington, he has earned the E.L. Wright Award; been named an AP Scholar; and been inducted into the Cum Laude Society, National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Spanish Honor Society and Gamma Chi Epsilon.
A four-year member of Darlington’s varsity tennis team and the No. 1 male singles player, Schecter is team captain and has received the Best Player Award and the Best Effort Award. He also competes in USTA tournament tennis, where he is a five-time state champion and is currently ranked No. 2 in the state of Georgia in his class.
In his four years at Darlington, Schecter has been a member of the Discipline Committee, Y-Cabinet, Science Club, Math Team, varsity cross country team, and served one year as community service liaison. He has also volunteered at the Boys & Girls Club of Rome and participated in the National Young Leaders Conference for two summers.
Schecter is the son of Dr. Jay and Gina Schecter of Rome.
