As families begin to think about the new school year that will be here before we know it, current parent Jennifer Scott blogs about an event that should certainly be on your calendar if it isn't already. Read her blog below!

Save the date and mark my words: Tigers & ‘Tails on Aug. 13 is an event you will not want to miss. Presented by the Purple Tie Committee, this back-to-school kickoff promises something for everyone.

Here are a few of the new features of this event:

The location: The back lawn behind Thatcher Hall will be transformed for al fresco dining from interactive food stations.

The attire: Despite the formality of the name “Purple Tie,” this year’s dress code is purple summer cocktail with no tie required! Don’t even think about a tux, as the only ‘tails planned are refreshing cocktails we hope guests will enjoy.

The prizes: The silent auction has been pared down to fewer items (only 17 in honor of this year’s graduating class) that pack a lot more punch. There will be 17 raffle boxes spread around for those who like to play the odds. The live auction will include 17 additional prizes that are truly unavailable elsewhere in Rome.

Also new this year, the silent auction will be conducted via a smart phone app. Prepare for the competition to be even more exciting as those unable to attend in person participate.

The entertainment: Our live auction will be conducted by a team of local celebrities who are sure to keep you laughing. There will also be a fun live band.

Despite several changes, the core emphasis on fellowship, fun and philanthropic support for our students will remain the same. Please make plans to join us! (You can purchase tickets by clicking here.)

In coming weeks we will be highlighting our exciting and unique auction prizes on Twitter and Facebook, so follow along—but don’t forget to buy a ticket for the event—last year we sold out!
