Junior Daniel Sabet, LaGrange, Ga., recently earned Eagle Scout distinction. To obtain this honor, a scout must demonstrate leadership and must have earned 21 merit badges. Sabet’s Eagle Scout project benefited food banks in LaGrange, Ga. For two weeks, Sabet held a food drive by putting boxes in the local churches, grocery stores, and at the local Weight Watchers. He collected 2000 pounds of food and toiletries and gave it all to the LaGrange Personal Aid (the food closet). “LaGrange had been going through a food drought and they either had to buy food out of their own pockets or turn people away,” Sabet said. “I did it just before Thanksgiving in order that the poor community might have a good Thanksgiving dinner. The food lasted until January.”
