The Rome Symphony Orchestra will perform a concert in memory of longtime Darlington teacher George Awsumb on April 26 at 7:30 p.m. at Rome City Auditorium. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.

"George Awsumb taught at Darlington School for 47 years," said Barbara Beninato of RSO. "He was instrumental in creating and leading programs for his students to give them more opportunities to learn about and participate in the arts."

The five winners of the Rome Symphony Orchestra's Young Artists Competition will be featured in the concert. They are Amanda Guidi of Berry College; Katelyn Johnson of Shorter University; James Chin of Georgia Cumberland Academy; Holly Robinson of Cedartown High School; and Christina Wang of Westminster Schools. In addition, Mozart's "Symphony No. 40" will be performed.

Tickets may be purchased in advance at several retail outlets or online at www.romesymphony.org. They will also be available at the door on the evening of the concert. Students will be admitted free of charge.
