German and Spanish instructor Tollie Ross has added bridge instruction to his teaching repertoire. Ross attended three days of seminars in late August to renew his certificate to direct bridge games and teach bridge lessons.

The Bridge Club that Ross started three years again continues this school year beginning Saturday, Sept. 6, from 1 to 3 p.m. Ross welcomes students and adults who wish to learn the game or improve. The club is sanctioned by the American Contract Bridge League for teenagers and college students.

Ross recruits students from Rome High and Floyd County as well as Darlington students. “My vision is for these schools to each have a bridge club so the different teams can compete against each other,” Ross said. “As yet I have not been able to recruit enough students from other schools to build up their teams, but I keep trying.”

Ross welcomes any adults from the Darlington community as well. The club has involved about 50 students so far.
