Rome seniors earn scholarships

Abigail McGraw, daughter of Cathy and Bob McGraw, and Laura McGuire, daughter of Sondra and Dwayne McGuire, have been awarded Josiah Penfield Scholarships by Mercer University in Macon, Ga. They will each receive an annual award of $12,000 for a total of $36,000 over four years. In addition to this, both of these students have been awarded a Mercer Baptist Heritage Grant, each worth $1,500 annually for a total of $6,000 over four years.
Benji White, son of Sherry and Jerome White, has been named a Jesse Mercer Scholar by Mercer University. He will receive and annual award of $13,000 for a total of $65,000 over five years. He has also been awarded a Mercer Baptist Heritage Grant of $1,500 a year for a total of $7,500 over four years. He will receive a personal notebook computer equipped with the latest software and hardware upon his arrival at Mercer.
Whitney Smith, daughter of Denise and Jimmy Smith, and Meggin Marie Roberts, daughter of Marie and Paul Roberts, Lindale, Ga., have both been awarded a Converse College Scholarship from Converse College in Spartanburg, S.C. This scholarship is valued at a minimum of $10,000 a year, for a total of at least $40,000 over four years.
A coed, college preparatory, day (PK-12) and boarding (9-12) school in Rome, Ga., 65 miles northwest of Atlanta, Darlington School inspires students to grow intellectually, spiritually, morally, physically, culturally, and socially.
