R.O.M.E. presents “Winds of the Season” in honor of Darlington’s Centennial

R.O.M.E. will present “Winds of the Season,” an evening of holiday melodies celebrating the 100th anniversary of Darlington School, Tuesday, Dec. 6, at 7:30 p.m. at The Forum. The concert will feature the Northwest Georgia Winds and guest performers including The Three Rivers Singers and Darlington's Schools Choirs, Concert Band and Steel Tigers (steel drum band).
"Directed by Sam Baltzer, 'Winds of the Season' will highlight his talent for bringing musicians and performers together to best serve the community of Rome and the citizens of Floyd County," said Bruce Watterson, chief communication officer. "Darlington is proud to be a part of the Northwest Georgia Winds and R.O.M.E. event. The program will be a great blend of student and professional performers doing what they do best -entertaining."
The concert will begin with Leroy Anderson’s “A Christmas Festival,” performed by the NW GA Winds and mass choir, followed by “The Next 100 Years,” a special piece commissioned to celebrate Darlington’s 100th anniversary. The remainder of the program will feature holiday selections including “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring,” “The First Noel,” “Ding Dong! Merrily on High,” “Our Winter Wonderland,” “Star of Bethlehem,” “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel,” “A Winter’s Carol,” “Mary’s Boy Child,” “Do You Hear What I Hear?” “Hallelujah Chorus” and “I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day.”
"Darlington and Rome have served one another well over the past 100 years, but our Centennial does more than honor 100 years of service," said Watterson. "It honors the community Darlington calls 'home' and the School's graduates who reside here."
Admission to “Winds of the Season” is free; however, tickets are recommended to guarantee seating. General admission tickets are available at both Rome Kroger locations, The Music Room and Rome Area Council for the Arts (RACA).
