Richardson Scores Perfection With PSAT

The clock ticks away the seconds, pencil tips breaking and palms sweating. Some students stare blankly into space, unsure of the answers, while a few students scroll down the page, courageously guessing, while still others diligently read over each question, debating. "A or C, A or C?" All hope that their scores will be respectable when the final mark is graded. This is a familiar scene to anyone who has ever endured standardized testing.
Junior Adam Richardson managed to obtain more than a respectable score on the PSAT, administered Saturday, Oct. 10. Richardson achieved an impressive academic goal: a verbal score of 80, mathematics score of 80, and writing skills score of 80. In other words, his PSAT scores were perfect. "For a student to score 80s on all three sections of the PSAT is rare indeed," said Sam Moss, dean of studies and college guidance.
"I'm very proud of Adam's work. The writing section was added to the PSAT this time. To score three perfect scores is an incredible feat," Headmaster David Rhodes said.
From his high academic achievements to his involvement with the Darlington chorus, Darlington Players, and publications, Richardson's participation in an array of activities indicates he is a well-balanced student.
"In my English II Honors class last year, Adam, probably more than any other student, challenged me as a teacher, to be a better, more authoritative, effective and profoundly challenging teacher," said Matthew Kearney, Upper School English teacher.
