Richardson named Optimist Club Student of the Month for March

Outstanding academic achievement has won senior William Richardson the honor of being named the Noon Optimist Student of the Month for March.
Richardson, who is ranked No. 6 in his class of 112, has a GPA of 96.95 and an SAT score of 1440. In his four years at the Upper School, he has earned seven honors and three AP credits.
While at Darlington, Richardson has received the Darlington Parents Association Student Award, and been a member of National Honor Society and Cum Laude Society. Richardson has also made time for several extracurricular activities, including the House Senate, Honor Council, Y-Cabinet, FCA, varsity soccer and varsity football, and has participated in mission trips during his junior and senior years.
“As William’s soccer coach and teacher for the past four years, I have seen him develop into a well-rounded and confident young man. His performance at Darlington School indicates a goal-oriented and steadfast approach to academics,” said Owen Kinney, Environmental Science teacher and varsity soccer coach. “William maintains a flawless record on his assignments, and his written work reflects thoughtful preparation. On the soccer field and during group activities in the classroom, William takes a leadership role – handling more than his share of the group’s responsibilities and approaching conflict tactfully.”
Richardson will be honored, along with Darlington’s Student of the Month for February, at a luncheon Monday, March 28. He is the son of Tom and Tammy Richardson of Rome, Ga.
