Reunion Weekend returns to fall

Homecoming is the ONLY alumni campus event scheduled for the 2003-04 academic year. That is because the School listened to alumni requests. After Alumni Weekend 2003, held April 25–27, the Development Office sent out a survey to all alumni, asking them which they preferred: Fall Alumni Weekend or Spring Alumni Weekend. Of those who responded to the survey, 55 percent indicated that they preferred the fall; 30 percent had no preference, and only 15 percent preferred the spring. Based on the overwhelming results of the survey, the Alumni Council approved the move back to Fall Alumni Weekend.
The next Alumni Weekend will be held in October 2004, and will feature the classes of 1929, 1934, 1939, 1944, 1949, 1954 (50-year celebration), 1959, 1964, 1969, 1974, 1979 (25-year celebration), 1984, 1989, 1994, and 1999.
Because there will be no Alumni Weekend held during the 2003-04 calendar year, the main focus for alumni wishing to return to campus is Homecoming 2003, which will be held on October 17. Festivities will include an address by The Secret Life of Bees author Sue Monk Kidd at 9 a.m., in the Huffman Center, Lunch on the Chapel Lawn at 11:30 a.m., a Darlington Players production of The Importance of Being Earnest at 4 p.m., an Alumni/Parent Pre-Game Picnic at 5:30 p.m. on the Chapel Lawn, and the Darlington vs. Trion football game at 7:30 p.m. Registration can be made online.
