Registering for Darlington Summer Camps is as easy as 1, 2, 3 ... literally. By using the new online registration method available on Darlington School's homepage, your children can be registered for one or more camps in minutes. And while it might seem early, spaces will quickly fill as summer approaches.

“The caliber and quality of the camps this year is unmatchable, and we are bringing in some of the best instructors from all over the country,” said Ballard Betz, director of summer programs. “We want people to see that there is so much to take advantage of at Darlington.”

Darlington Summer Camps is constantly seeking to support the school’s mission of developing students with character. This is accomplished through applying the camper’s talents, developing friendships, building confidence and identifying individual needs, according to Betz.

“My three children have all gone to camp because Darlington offers everything,” said Holly Burch of Rome, Ga. “Darlington’s camps focus on the things that are really important. They make the kids feel good about themselves, while respecting and fostering individuality.”

Judy Beecham (’77) of Roswell, Ga., has sent her children to Darlington Summer Camps for the past two years and plans to continue the trend. “It is something that they talk about all year long,” she said. “The attention they receive from the counselors is unmatchable, and the camps exemplify the Darlington experience.”

Online registration is being offered for the first time this year. To register, visit www.darlingtonschool.org/summer. Click the green “Apply Online” tab. Here you will be able to register multiple campers for multiple camps and pay reservation deposits by credit card, debit card, or eCheck.

The following camps are being offered this summer:

Camp Delightascope is a half-day summer camp experience designed specifically for the unique needs and interests of young children. Much more than day care, Delightascope combines age-appropriate academics and activities to create a fun, stimulating environment.

Older campers may choose to experience 500 acres of outdoor fun at Camp Darlington. Swim, shoot, hit, throw, kick, paddle, duck, dodge, and run. Cruise the trails, compete on playing fields, and paddle on Silver Lake. Camp Darlington gives a sense of adventure, while providing a variety of safe and wholesome activities designed to intrigue every kind of camper.

Perhaps your child would like to explore the world of art and express his or her imagination in a week of music, arts and crafts, and drama in Artistic Expressions Camp. Gain confidence, pride, and self-esteem while delving into music and drama. Learn techniques used in a variety of art mediums and let the imagination soar. Experience the thrill of applause when a musical is presented the last day of camp.

Known for its professional instruction, limited enrollment, top-notch facilities, and fun training environment, Darlington Fast Pitch Softball Camp is in higher demand than ever before. Former Canadian Olympic pitcher Deb Sonnenberg and her talented staff of coaches will perfect your child’s talents, teach new skills, and take his or her game to the next competitive level.

Tackle the fundamentals and learn how to make football a snap at summer Football Camp. Darlington School football coaches, coaches from other area high schools, current and former college players, and Darlington varsity athletes make this a winning experience for each camper.

Jump into the fun of cheerleading this summer at Cheerleading Camp. Learn new cheers, perform age-appropriate stunts, improve technique, and build a repertoire of moves and formations.

Returning to Darlington for her third consecutive summer, College Golf Coaches Hall of Fame member Ann Davidson brings back the personal instruction that makes Darlington Golf Camp so valuable. By limiting enrollment to a very small number of campers, Ann and her staff of coaches continue to make this one of the highest-caliber programs of any one-week golf camp in the country.

Gain the advantage and return a winner after attending Darlington’s third annual Tennis Camp. After spending a full week with this impressive staff of coaches and athletes, your child may be able to join the ranks of the many players who have gone from beginner to national ranking.

This year, Darlington Summer Programs is proud to host one of the top lacrosse organizations in the country, Warrior Lacrosse Camps. Directed by MLL Superstar and 2004 League MVP Conor Gill, Warrior Lacrosse Camp at Darlington School is the premier lacrosse camp in the Southeast. Darlington does not handle registration for outside camps hosted at the School.

Darlington Summer Programs will also host three of the top soccer camps in the country. SoccerPlus and No. 1 Soccer are excellent individual player camps. Coastal Carolina accepts individual players as well, but is known for being one of the top team training camps out there. Darlington does not handle registration for outside camps hosted by the School.

Boys Basketball Camp, for boys ages 9-14, allows campers to compete daily in shooting and team play. Led by Darlington Head Varsity Basketball Coach Jim Van Es, Darlington varsity and junior varsity coaches, assisted by high school and college players, teach fundamental skills – shooting, dribbling, passing, rebounding, defending, setting and using screens.

Girls Basketball, for girls ages 9-14, teaches the fundamentals. Director Angie Milford, head coach for Darlington’s girls varsity basketball team, has extensive experience in playing collegiate Division I, coaching at the collegiate and high school level and directing summer camps. Junior Basketball, for girls ages 5-8, also led by Milford, teaches younger girls the fundamentals and rules of basketball in a fast-moving, half-day format designed for younger attention spans.

Milford pairs with Middle School P.E. teacher Susan Stout to teach a Health Class through Darlington Summer Programs as well. This required course for all Darlington ninth-graders earns students one-third of a credit in physical education. Students learn current information on a variety of health-related topics, alcohol and drugs, nutrition, first aid and sexually transmitted diseases.
