The University of New Mexico Press has announced it will be publishing Cuba: Picturing Change by photographer and faculty member, E. Wright Ledbetter '85. The release date is scheduled for October 2002. Featuring more than 110 black and white photographs, Cuba: Picturing Change will also have essays by Louis A. Perez Jr., preeminent American scholar on Cuba and professor of history at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and by Ambrosio Fornet, a renown Cuban writer who lives and works in Havana, Cuba. Laurie Kratochvil, director of photography for In Style Magazine, is the photography editor for the book.

Ledbetter created the work over five trips to Cuba from 1997-2001. The project was nominated for the 2000 Infinity Award by the International Center of Photography in New York. Ledbetter is a self-taught photographer, receiving his bachelor's degree in English from Washington and Lee University and his master's degree in education from Vanderbilt University. At Darlington, Ledbetter has served as alumni director, director of the Campaign for Darlington, and capital gifts officer. Ledbetter will begin a new position as executive vice president of R. H. Ledbetter Properties, Inc., Rome, Ga., in July.
