President David Hicks on Campus

Darlington’s new president, David Hicks, and his family arrived in Rome Aug. 1, the day outgoing President Jim McCallie became president-emeritus. Hicks’ first day in the office was Monday, Aug. 2. A Rhodes scholar and former head of four independent schools in Mississippi, Texas, New Hampshire, and Virginia, Hicks has returned to Georgia, where he once served on the administration of Atlanta’s The Westminster Schools.

Hicks and his wife, Betsy, have four children: Emily, a sophomore at Virginia Commonwealth University; David, a senior year at St. Christopher’s School in Richmond, Va.; Peter, a ninth-grader at Darlington; and Jack, a Darlington seventh-grader.
