Preparing for Fall at the Lower School
By Steve Bartholomew - FF/S
Because the Lower School has experienced some healthy growth in enrollment over the past year, a couple of staffing adjustments have been made in preparation for 2011-12. This will allow us to comfortably accommodate the number of students at each grade level, ensuring that class sizes remain manageable for teachers.
-
Beth Smith and teaching assistant Sunny Cox will continue to have one section of pre-K.
-
Janice Cox and teaching assistant Cindy Stinson will have one section of kindergarten.
-
A section of first grade will be added, with Rebekah Montgomery moving up to teach that class. Gayle Monk will continue to teach the other first-grade class.
-
Jody Deaton will teach one section of second grade and a teaching assistant will be hired to support her.
-
Alice Clements and Steve McConnell will continue to teach the two third-grade classes.
-
A section of fourth grade will be added, with Byron Dacy moving up to teach that class. Flo Anthony and Rebekah Kinney will continue to teach the other two fourth-grade classes.
Please let me know if you have any questions about these changes. Otherwise, I hope you are enjoying a safe and happy summer with your family! We look forward to partnering with you this fall for another exciting year at Darlington.
