Giddyup cowboys! Pre-kindergarteners in Beth Smith’s class saddled up for Cowboy Day and rode out of town, for a field trip, that is. After studying cowboys in class, they experienced life on the range firsthand.

Their destination was the farm of Darlington’s long-time friend J.L. Todd. The cowboys and cowgirls rode horses, panned for gold, roped a steer, and made trail mix. They even rustled up some grub that looked a lot like hot dogs. From all that Mrs. Smith described, it was a regular hoe down.
