Players open audition to Lower and Middle Schools

For the first time in Darlington history, auditions for the annual Upper School musical will be open to Lower and Middle School, as well as Upper School students. This year’s musical, The King and I, will require 15 students from Lower and Middle School to be cast as the King’s children.
Auditions will be held in November at all three schools for the production running February 8, 9, and 10, 2002. Students should be prepared to sing, “Getting to Know You,” which can be checked out on CD from Diane Lumpkin, Lower School lead teacher, or Diane Ogletree, Middle School secretary. The CD’s will be available for one night only, to be returned the next day for use by other students.
If cast in the play, both students and their parents will be asked to commit to a strict rehearsal schedule, vocal training, and backstage work in the dressing room. “There will be some weekend rehearsals and the week of the play there will be a couple of late night rehearsals,” said Lumpkin, “However, the entire experience will be an incredible one for the children.”
